Hillside Beach Club

As seen by Chemmy Alcott

Picture the scene: a private Blue Flag sandy beach, deep hues of pine forest green stark against white rocks and cliffs, multiple Aegean blues lapping the shore and pops of purple bougainvillea clinging to the terraces... this is Turkey’s Hillside Beach Club.

Whether it’s a stay for two or a holiday with kids in tow, this resort on the Fethiye coast has so much to recommend it. The three beaches – two of which are just for grown-ups – entice with soft sands and warm waters, connected by wooden boardwalks and where white parasols offer shade from the Mediterranean sun.

Guests feel a world away from home in the contemporary suites with views of Hillside Beach Club’s privately-owned Kalemya Bay. The options for families are particularly spacious, with two bedrooms offering privacy for parents but without needing to book an additional interconnecting suite.

Dining is top quality, with local favourites on the menu, as well as Italian classics and child-friendly dishes. Speaking of younger guests, activities, clubs and facilities are onsite for tots to teens to enjoy, while parents can sneak off for a cold beer at one of the six bars.

Hillside Beach Club in Turkey is a great introduction to the stunning region of Fethiye, and one that guests return to year after year.

The 330 rooms all come with conveniences to make a stay at Hillside Beach Club relaxing, such as free WiFi, air conditioning and an in-room mini-bar.

Many boast sea views of the turquoise and cobalt bay from private terraces draped in bougainvillea, and all have been designed with contemporary furnishings.

Sleeping up to two adults and three children, the resort’s Superior Family Room has single and double rooms alongside a large terrace with Aegean views, ideal for allowing parents additional privacy. The Superior Double meanwhile is a dreamy setting for two.

There are three tasty eateries to choose from at Hillside Beach Club: the resort’s main restaurant, Pasha on the Bay and Beach Bar & Restaurant.

At the main restaurant the buffet options are endless, with wood-fired ovens, fruit displays and plenty of choice for those with dietary requirements. There is even a ‘Baby Chef’ on hand to prepare healthy dishes for younger guests!

Pasha on the Bay is an altogether grown up affair, serving Mediterranean dishes by the sea. After dinner, guests head to the Beach Bar & Restaurant for one of its famed Sunset Parties. Three additional bars to those located at the restaurants mean guests never struggle for a quiet spot to enjoy a cool cocktail or two.

Hillside Beach Club is around 60 minutes’ transfer from Dalaman airport, following a 4.5 hour direct flight from the UK. Bodrum and Antalya airports are around a three hour transfer.

Located in Fethiye on Turkey’s exceptionally beautiful Aegean coastline, Hillside benefits from picture postcard views of the resort’s privately-owned Kalemya Bay.

Fethiye boasts a fascinating history as one of the oldest towns on the Lycian Coast, and its weekly market is the perfect spot to pick up a souvenir or two.

In the summer guests can take a ferry trip across to Rhodes, or for a real walk through history visit Letoon where three temples dedicated to Leto, Apollo and Artemis await.

Why here?

There are three beaches at Hillside Beach Club in Turkey; one perfect for families and those who love their watersports, and two which are adult-only and designed to create a peaceful atmosphere.

Surrounded by sun loungers with views of the sea and a bar beside, the resort’s swimming pool has activities scheduled and plenty of room for guests.

The two spas offer an array of enticing treatments and facilities including a Turkish bath, snow fountain and Jacuzzi.

The kids’ club has its own pool and waterslide with activities for all ages.

Watersports are available in abundance to experience the beauty of the seas beside the resort, including waterskiing, sailing, diving and knee boarding.

Our take

There are plenty of reasons to love Hillside Beach, but one that stood out for the Travel Seen team was the additional guest services, like Artside where young and old can create something crafty to take home; a nursing room for parents and babies; and a beach library on Silent Beach.

It’s hard not to be impressed with the region’s history and a must-see when in Fethiye is the rock tombs of Telmessos. Not far from Hillside, they were built in 350BC.
