Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, Mauritius

Nestled between the island’s largest lagoon and its own pristine golf course; on the sunset side of Mauritius; against the backdrop of UNESCO-listed Morne Brabant Mountain... locations don’t get much better than that of the Paradis Beachcomber.

Choice is the keyword here. There are four restaurants on site or the option to dine at other Beachcomber hotels, including next door’s Dinarobin. The tropical suites and rooms offer a real sense of place, or there are thatched beachside villas for extra space. The spa, golf course, sports centre and boathouse - with included watersports – ensure plenty of alternatives to relaxing by the pool or on the beach. And for families there’s the free kids club for three to 11-year-olds, equipment for babies waiting in-room on arrival, and inspiration for time spent together; such as cycling around the resort or taking a glass-bottom boat trip.

For a day out families love a trip to Casela nature park. Golfers will find exceptional fairways at the Paradis Golf Club Course on site, and the Mont Choisy Le Golf course where they have privileged access. Jogging tracks along the peninsular spoil runners to exceptional views. Free scheduled activities include cooking classes, while at night the atmosphere is enhanced with live music.

Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa is a dreamy Mauritius hotel for a family holiday in the Indian Ocean and the Travel Seen team has offers at its fingertips to make your stay here a reality.

Paradis Beachcomber boasts a huge 320 rooms to pick from, alongside 13 private villas for additional space and luxury.

As standard the accommodation comes with plenty of 5-star details: air con, hair dryers, a mini-bar and hot drink making facilities, a large bathroom with bathtub, and a television.

Beachfront rooms – and all of the villas – lead straight onto the resort’s white sands. Family options include suites with two en suite bedrooms.

Ocean Beachfront Suites and Senior Suite Beachfront categories have extras such as welcome gifts and reserved sun loungers on the beach. The latter is a particularly good choice for a Mauritian honeymoon with added privacy just steps from sand.

As expected the villas have oodles of special features... a butler, lounge access at the airport and a private wine cellar to name a few.

There are four options for dining on site, plus guests have access to the restaurants at sister hotel Dinarobin next door too.

Main restaurant Le Brabant is open for three meals a day and located next to the main swimming pool. The buffets and cooking stations are popular and themed evenings are accompanied by decorations and entertainment.

For lunch and dinner there is La Palma with its Mediterranean menu and intimate setting. Guests have the option to dine on La Palma Beach which is steps from the restaurant.

The resort’s gourmet option, Blue Marlin, specialises in seafood and is more casual in the day before transforming into an elegant piano bar and eatery at night.

Finally there’s the opportunity to really sample the delights of authentic Mauritian cuisine at La Ravanne, a magical spot for an evening meal.

The location of the Paradis Beachcomber is the main highlight guests rave about on their return. Set as it is on the south-west of the island, on Le Morne peninsular along one of Mauritius’ best beaches, it’s less than 34 miles from the island’s main international airport.

On one side of the resort is the lagoon, the other the resort’s golf course, and behind both is the imposing UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed Morne Brabant Mountain.  This exceptional island setting means that honeymooners often treat themselves to helicopter transfers from the airport. An epic experience to start a holiday in style.

The island is such a unique place to visit thanks to its influence from three continents – Africa, Asia and Europe. So be sure to make time for day trips like the century-old salines of Tamarin and the stunning Chamarel Waterfall.

Why here?

Take a dip – the kids club has its own pool, there is the resort’s main swimming pool and a relaxation pool at the spa. Or of course there’s the famous beach and lagoon too.

Chill out – Paradis Beachcomber’s spa has eight indoor massage rooms and two outdoor cabins, a hair salon, steam baths and an outdoor yoga platform.

Work up a sweat – facilities for sport are in abundance. There’s a fitness and cardio room, floodlit tennis courts, jogging tracks, beach volleyball and mountain biking. The watersports centre includes water skiing, snorkelling, SUP and kayaks.

On course – the exceptional 18-hole Par 72 golf course has been creatively built along 5,924 metres. There’s an academy, pro shop, equipment rental, a club house and driving range too.

Little VIPs – facilities are very good for a family holiday in Mauritius. Alongside the kids club with its swimming pool there are child-friendly dishes in the restaurants and gourmet purees for babies; Family Suites are decorated for kids and complimentary baby care equipment is provided; and there is a babysitting service for an additional charge.

Our take

Make time to visit the Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth which isn’t far from Paradis Beachcomber. This popular geological attraction showcases sand of seven different colours which can be viewed and photographed from a platform.

Another ‘must-visit’ is the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden with its giant water lilies and Talipot trees – which only bloom every 30 to 80 years before they die! A rare natural sight to capture.
