10 Holiday Ideas for Easter 2022

See in the Spring Break in style…

Easter makes for a great time for a holiday, with temperatures perfect for families in hotter destinations and quieter resorts than during the peak summer travel months.

It’s also a time of year to make use of two bank holidays – so taking up less annual leave for a longer break. And if venturing abroad isn’t on the cards it could mean glorious British weather if the past few years are anything to go on.

Sadly Easter holidays in 2020 were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which also put pay to them this year too. But looking ahead to 2022, there’s plenty to get egg-cited about for an Easter holiday!

1. Easter bunny in the Maldives

Who knew but apparently the Easter bunny makes a quick stop in the Maldives when they’re delivering their eggs! Younger travellers will be enchanted by the Easter programme at LUX* North Male Atoll Resort and Villas, which includes bunny origami, Easter sand art and pin the tail on the bunny. For adults, the Easter Sunday Champagne brunch and sunset cruise offer luxurious ways to celebrate.

2. Skiing in the Dolomites

Easter marks the end of the ski season in Europe, so although snow isn’t guaranteed, it can be a more affordable time for a skiing holiday. It’s a good idea to pick a resort with lots of other things to do in case the white stuff isn’t in abundance, like the Rosa Alpina in Italy. The spa here is exceptional, including a yoga studio and indoor pool, and there’s a fondue restaurant for après ski dining.

3. Spring in Dubai

Dubai is renowned for its high temperatures, making Easter a great time to visit for those who prefer it a little cooler, such as younger children. Families flock to Atlantis for its incredible facilities all under one resort and during Easter it goes all out to impress. Think Easter egg hunts around The Lost Chambers Aquarium, a Big Bunny Bash at the kids’ club, and of course those epic Sunday brunches Dubai is famous for.

4. Family fun at Walt Disney World

Like Dubai, Florida can get uncomfortably hot in the summer months, which can be a problem if you plan to spend your time experiencing the Walt Disney World theme parks. Easter however is usually much cooler, but with plenty of sunshine to boot. A stay at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort adds the necessary bells and whistles to make it a luxury Florida holiday for parents too.

5. Chocolate hunting in St Lucia

For a more sophisticated Easter holiday, the Rabot Hotel Saint Lucia from Hotel Chocolat is sure to tick the boxes. The ‘Tree to Bar’ experience is the ultimate tour for cocoa-lovers, while the spa has treatments good enough to eat, like the Cacao Detox Body Wrap. Accommodation is in lodges surrounded by lush rainforest and with views of the Pitons.

6. April in St Andrews

Whether it’s by train, car or plane, the Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland is a beautiful spot to while away the Easter break in the UK. The championship courses are a joy for keen golfers with the spa offering a tranquil place to relax. A carefully thought out programme for children during the school holidays includes the archaeology guided coastal path walk, and the den and coastal foraging walk.

7. Easter island escape

For a luxury Easter holiday with a capital ‘L’ look no further than Jumby Bay Island off the coast of Antigua. Everything is included, from beach barbecues under Caribbean skies to rum tasting and watersports. Guests of all ages remember the Hawksbill Turtle Programme as a highlight of the Jumby Bay experience.

8. Hop across to Portugal

Just a few hours flight from the UK, Martinhal Sagres Algarve is a family-friendly haven that really goes all out at Easter. Packages for the spring holidays here include egg hunts, games and the Easter Bunny Dance! Frequently winning awards for its facilities for children, the accommodation options are hugely varied to suit the size and needs of each guest’s party.

9. Spring Sport at Sani

Similarly well set up for families is Greece’s Sani Resort. For an active Easter break the academies here are very well regarded, teaching younger guests everything they need to know about a sport and led by a former professional; including the new Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, and the football academy in association with Chelsea FC.

10. Easter flowers in York<

Spend Easter on a UK city break in historic York, where The Grange makes an elegant base. Ideally located for exploring - and also accepting dogs if a four-legged companion is coming too - the popular flower arranging workshop makes for a suitably seasonal activity during spring, including afternoon tea and a glass of prosecco.
